A-Z Industries, the electrical and industrial wire and cable specialists headquartered in Chicago, Ill., will open its third U.S. Warehouse facility in Phoenix on Aug. 1.
The company currently has warehouses in Chicago and Houston, Texas.
James R. Anixter, president of A-Z Industries, said the firm has been operating a sales office in Phoenix for more than a year.
“Now we will make this one of our major stoking locations to serve Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada and California,” he pointed out.
Anixter added that the new Phoenix facility, at 5502 W. Buckeye Road in the Freeport Industrial Center, will give the company a presence in three major US regions.
“We will now be able to provide immediate delivery from a major stocking location to our customers located in the southwest region of the U.S.,” Anixter said. “And we will be able to provide overnight delivery to all of the states surrounding Arizona.”
Ray Geraci, vice president of advertising and public relations for A-Z Industries, said that Phil Buhler, who opened the A-Z Industries sales office last year, will be the outside sales manager for the new Phoenix facility. Geraci noted that Buhler learned the wire and cable business while he was employed by Anixter International during the 1990’s.
In addition, John Worthington will be director of inside sales, while Icie Jones will be warehouse operations manager, Geraci said.
Worthington joined A-Z Industries from On-Source Wire and Cable in Florida, where he ran the A-Z Industries North Florida sales office. Jones formerly was warehouse operations manager at A-Z’s Houston facility for several years, coming to the company from Electric Wire and Cable Company in Houston.
Eric Anixter, executive vice president of A-Z Industries, said the Phoenix warehouse covers more that 29,200 square feet and will employ approximately five full time workers at the start. Total employment at A-Z Industries is about 30 people, he noted.
“We’ll be stocking electrical wire, portable cord, mining cables, temporary power cables and cables cut to exact desired length,” Eric Anixter said
Also, he said the company does not charge for cuts, has same-day shipping available and has no minimum order policy.
“We believe our pricing is very competitive and that we have a very knowledgeable sales staff to work with our customers,” he added.
A-Z Industries was started in 1988 in Northbrook, Ill. by Jim Anixter and Bob Zywicki, who had spent more that 25 years in the wire and cable business with Anixter International, the country’s largest wire and cable distributor.
Eric Anixter, who noted the family has been in the business since 1954, said the Northbrook warehouse facility covers approximately 85,000 square feet in size.
